ABOUT MY JOURNEY

I was born in a typically lower-middle, service-class service family where the character is valued than the materialistic possessions. The lack of resources made me strong. In fact made me more determined to achieve something better in life rather than a common man who was just born, lived, produced children and went away. In fact, I was to leave a legacy for others to be motivated and worth inspiring.

One of my favourite taglines is "every passionate idea is followed by resources". I firmly believe in this and the same has been proved to be true "law of attraction". Whatever I have aspired, got the physical manifestation. In between was a passionate and enjoyable journey of Entrepreneurship. I still have some imaginations, unfinished tasks,  and am sure that all those would be accomplished soon. There have to be dreams...

My father wanted to get me admitted into some undergraduate professional course in the field of Horticulture after matriculation, but I was reluctant. I intended to pursue a graduate degree course in Engineering as I was good at Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

MY result of 10+1 was out wherein I stood 9th in Merit of the state yet could not get admission into a professional engineering college. During those days the existence of private engineering college was almost negligible and getting admission in them makes you inferior. Such prestigious was the reputation of State-run institutions.

The option left was to go ahead with further studies i.e. Pre Engineering, which can get one admitted into four years engineering degree course. With great hesitation, I expressed my wish to my parents to have admission in DAV College Chandigarh, which was brutally rejected, keeping in view the financial conditions and resources of the family. We were three brothers and two sisters and I was the youngest in the family. My father who was simply a Foreman in HP State Electricity Board simply couldn’t afford both the tuition and hostel fee expenses out of his salary keeping in view the size and responsibility which he was carrying.

By the Gods grace, my elder brother who got the job a couple of months ago came home the same evening and could sense the seriousness in the ambience. On knowing the subject, and my insistence, he requested the parents to fulfil my desire. He also gave them firm commitment, that he would not marry until he gets my engineering completed and would bear all the expenses. He kept his promise.  I owe to him and would always be indebted to him for his generosity, sacrifice, love and affection.

Finally, I went to DAV college Chandigarh, for my Pre Engineering, stayed in BTC hostel along with my room partner Rakesh Panwar who is an MBBS Doctor and present serving the home state i.e. Himachal Pradesh. We both studied hard and hardly enjoyed the first freedom being a hostler.  Somehow the hard work turned the fortune and immediately on getting passed out with good scores, got selected for nomination from my home state HP to Raipur Engineering College which at those days was part of Madhya Pradesh and is now in Chhattisgarh in Metallurgy discipline. The Raipur Engineering College is now known as NIT Raipur.  A boy who has not travelled beyond Chandigarh went to a far off place in central India, capital of extreme summer and mosquitoes. A new era of life began. It was like the bird who flew out of the nest for the first time and never came back. Since then have been out of Shimla to peruse the carrier.

After completion of Engineering degree, went for SSB interview at Bangalore, but couldn't go through. The final option was to opt for a private job. My two years of service in the private sector were most dissatisfied because of my intolerance of subordination and my spendthrift nature. Finally, I realized that the freedom of choice and financial independence can only be achieved through entrepreneurship.

Way back in the year 1992, ventured into entrepreneurship at Baddi, Industrial area in H.P., as a novice first generation entrepreneur. Had no knowledge of the business world, but was sure that my lack of intellect would be smartly compensated by my hard work. Started with a small unit of PP caps manufacturing with a humble investment of 3.5 lakhs. Tested tasted the water and then gradually expanded into Precision Sheet metal components. by the year 1996, we were the sole vendor of ALL OUT liquid mosquito repellant, supplying them sheet metal components required for the ALL OUT machine.

Thereafter ventured into Special Purpose Machine Manufacturing followed by Pharmaceutical, Hospitality and Skilling. Had given meaningful employment to hundreds of people.

During this journey of entrepreneurship, got the opportunity of various leadership positions to lead the Association of Industries. Had lead various forums of Industries like BBN Industries Association, CII, Laghu Udyog Bharti, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rotary Club etc.

The diversified field and experience so gathered now must be scattered. "Life is not what you gather - its what you scatter". Now time is for me to share and inspire the youth of the nation towards entrepreneurship. To motivate them to be job givers rather than job seekers. To be amongst those who fight with the courage to achieve their dreams through entrepreneurship.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECTS

I started my journey of entrepreneurship in the year 1992 with a very small project with an investment of 3.5 lakhs to manufacture PP caps. Gradually diversified from PP caps to precision sheet metal components followed by precision automatic special-purpose machine manufacturing and rest of the opportunities kept on following.
